Following his PechaKucha Night Santa Fe presentation, Does Capitalism Have a Future? at PKN VOL. 23 BREAD, Ward Hendon returns for a deeper conversation.

Ward started out headed for Atticus Finch’s law office. He ended up teaching entrepreneurship at San Quentin.

Inspired by a French bread-maker and an Indigenous paradigm of sacred reciprocity, Ward began to rethink money, purpose, and what business is actually for.

In this intimate 53:20 Salon conversation with entrepreneur, educator, and strategist Ron Dimon, Ward traces a journey from big law to impact investing, from Milton Friedman to Braiding Sweetgrass, and lands here in New Mexico—where a formerly incarcerated chef, a wildfire timber startup, and a green bank are quietly rewriting capitalism’s script.

Bio

Ward Hendon is Co-Founder and General Partner of Dangerous Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital firm that invests in founders building a more resilient future for people and the planet.

Prior to Dangerous Ventures, Ward was a member of the founding team of Axiom Law, now the world’s largest provider of tech-enabled legal services. His work spans entrepreneurship, impact investing, climate finance, and education. He serves on the board of New Mexico’s Climate Investment Center, the state’s first Green Bank, and teaches Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing at UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Ward’s journey has taken him from corporate law to the classroom at San Quentin’s Mt. Tamalpais College, where he began teaching entrepreneurship to incarcerated students. Along the way, he became increasingly interested in how capital can be used not only to generate returns, but also to strengthen communities and expand opportunity.

Bio

Ron Dimon is a strategist, educator, and entrepreneur who has spent more than three decades helping organizations navigate change, uncertainty, and growth. A former Partner at Deloitte Consulting, his work has spanned the business, government, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial sectors, where he has guided leaders in turning ideas into action through strategy, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving.

Today, Ron serves as Lead Faculty at the UNM Center for Responsible Entrepreneurship and leads SparkLabs Studio, where founders, students, and community leaders explore emerging opportunities, test new ideas, and build practical pathways for growth.

Known for his curiosity, thoughtful questions, and ability to connect ideas across disciplines, Ron has a gift for making complex topics approachable and engaging. His interest in entrepreneurship as a force for positive change makes him a natural host for this evening’s conversation on capitalism, reciprocity, and impact.
