Paradiso, 903 Early Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505
Immerse yourself in this special event where the past meets the present. Kenny Mann, who has traveled from Nairobi, and New York to Santa Fe, will guide us through an “ancestral story exchange.” This gathering will include a 19-minute film screening featuring excerpts from Kenny’s acclaimed works, Beautiful Tree, Severed Roots, and Naisula. This experience is accompanied by Tana Acton, Abraham Kipruto Kosgei, Therese Williams, Gilbert Baca, and Anusha Kutzner who will help guide you into your ancestral journey.
Experience includes:
- Exploring ancestral identity through film and storytelling.
- Engage in a community dialogue where audience members can share their own ancestral experiences, beliefs, or rituals.
- Bring an item that holds ancestral significance and share its story with others.
- Use imagination to create an “ancestor” presence via costume, makeup, artifacts, musical instruments, or other means.
This experience at Paradiso will be a rare opportunity to connect, on a deeper level, with your own roots as well as learn about others. Whether your ancestors are linked by blood, emotional ties, spiritual guidance, cultural heritage, or the lands we inhabit, this is a time to honor their influence in your life.
