Join us for an engaging session in this BEYOND PROFIT series as we explore what it will take to build the next-generation clean energy workforce in New Mexico.
As the Southwest accelerates toward a more sustainable energy future, opportunity is growing—but so is the need for new pathways, skills, and relationships. How do we prepare students, workers, and communities to thrive in an evolving economy? And how do we design systems that are equitable, adaptive, and human-centered?
This evening brings together national and local leaders to examine the real challenges and opportunities shaping workforce transition—from education and infrastructure to access, visibility, and connection.
INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP + RAFFLE | 4:00–5:15 PM
We’re opening the evening with a high-energy, highly practical networking crash course led by John Ravitch, designer, career guide, and longtime advisor to Creative Santa Fe.
In a world increasingly shaped by AI, technical skills alone won’t carry you to your next opportunity. Relationships matter more than ever—and learning how to build them with intention is a core workforce skill.
This interactive session is designed for both new and seasoned professionals and will include:
- A fresh, human-centered approach to networking (no performative small talk required)
- Simple tools for navigating career uncertainty
- In-session practice to help build confidence and momentum
- A chance to meet others in the room in a way that actually feels meaningful and authentic
Light refreshments will be provided during the workshop, and all participants s are entered into a raffle to win a brand new laptop.
PANEL DISCUSSION + AUDIENCE Q&A | 5:30–7:30 PM
The learning session continues with short presentations and a moderated panel discussion exploring workforce readiness and transition in the clean energy economy.
We’ll hear from:
- Terra Argo (Comanche Nation of Oklahoma), a national leader in Tribal energy engagement advancing collaborative approaches to energy development and infrastructure
- Veena Parboteeah, Dean of the School of Business, Media, and Technology at New Mexico Highlands University, leading workforce-aligned academic innovation statewide
- Solomon Gbara, UNM senior and founder of TalentSync, focused on expanding student access to internships, research, and career pathways in New Mexico’s emerging energy and technology sectors
Together, they will share real-world examples, local solutions, and next-generation perspectives on building the clean energy workforce New Mexico needs.
The session is moderated by Ward Hendon, co-founder of climate tech investing firm Dangerous Ventures and an educator in impact investing and innovation.
MIX + MINGLE WINE RECEPTION | 7:30–8:30 PM
Stay to connect with fellow attendees, speakers, and community leaders. Share ideas, build relationships, and continue the conversation over a wine reception with delectables from Walter Burke.
