Over the past four and a half years, Max Neutra has helped shape the spirit of PechaKucha Night Santa Fe through his whimsical and philosophical opening presentations. As longtime co-host, artist, musician, and experience designer, he holds the record for the most PechaKucha stories told on our stage.

For years, Max’s bunnies have appeared in galleries, murals, sketchbooks, and the imaginations of collectors throughout Santa Fe. What began as a simple drawing became one of his most recognizable artistic motifs.

In Bunnies + The Business of Art, Max joins gallerist, curator, and arts advocate Deborah Fritz for an intimate 53:20 Salon conversation about creativity, commerce, and the curious journey of an idea. Together, they’ll explore the creative process, the unexpected rise of Max’s beloved bunnies, and the realities of art-making, art-selling, collecting, and living with art. Along the way, they’ll share stories from the studio, the gallery, and the creative ecosystem that helps artwork find its way into the world.

With only 20 seats available, this salon creates space not only for dialogue with Max and Deborah, but for meaningful conversation among those gathered in the room.

The evening includes a fireside conversation, audience Q&A, and time to continue the conversation over nibbles + nosh from High Mountain Cuisine. Guests will also enjoy a special pop-up exhibition of Max’s work, opportunities to purchase original pieces, and a few delightful surprises along the way.

Registered attendees will receive a curated playlist of Max’s PechaKucha Night presentations in advance of the salon, offering a deeper look into the stories, ideas, and creative threads that have shaped his journey.

Bio

Max Neutra has spent his life in creative endeavors.

After a ten year stint in the LA music business, Max began to turn heads when he started painting live on stage with local bands. It was not long before he made a name for himself painting at events in the streets, music venues, and galleries throughout Los Angeles. Eventually his unique painting style won him the opportunity to paint in live shows across India and Europe. Throughout his career, he has painted in a myriad of locations, from the bright heights of a 747 flying over Mumbai, to the dark depths of the catacombs beneath Paris.

Today, Max lives in his hometown of Santa Fe, and applies all that he’s learned to his Experience Design work at art-collective-turned-themed-immersive-entertainment-company, Meow Wolf. He has contributed to ever growing universe of Meow Wolf exhibitions, and continues to develop the ever expanding Meow Wolf story universe.

Bio

Deborah Fritz is a gallerist, curator, and arts advocate who has helped shape Santa Fe’s contemporary art community for more than two decades.

A New Mexico native, Deborah studied Art Studio and Psychology at the University of New Mexico before co-founding Giacobbe-Fritz Fine Art and later establishing GF Contemporary on historic Canyon Road. Through her work, she has championed artists whose practices expand cultural dialogue and challenge conventional boundaries.

Known for her thoughtful curatorial eye and deep commitment to artists, Deborah believes art has the power to foster connection, provoke curiosity, and enrich everyday life. Today, she continues to support artists, collectors, and cultural initiatives that strengthen New Mexico’s creative ecosystem.
