Meet Our Presenters

Didi Bethurum  |  Cognitive Resilience in the Age of AI: A Mental Fitness PSA

What if the real concern with AI isn’t its intelligence, but our own lack thereof? In Cognitive Resilience in the Age of AI: A Mental Fitness PSA, Didi Bethurum challenges us to reclaim our presence, creativity, and conversation skills before we forget how to think for ourselves.

Bio

Didi Bethurum is a marketing consultant for experience-driven organizations and a professional coach for high-achieving creatives, curious humans, and leaders in transition.

With over two decades of marketing experience, she’s worked at places like Microsoft, madmen advertising agencies, social impact initiatives, and most recently Meow Wolf, where she served as Chief Communications Officer and led marketing and communications during the company’s rapid growth from art collective to nationally recognized immersive arts organization.

A fascinated observer of the digital world’s impact on cognition and creativity, she’s long been obsessed by what we gain – and what we risk losing – in a screen-saturated world. Her work now focuses on helping people reclaim presence, curiosity, and meaningful human connection in an age of Zoomnados and algorithms. She believes presence, play, and conversation aren’t just wellness buzzwords – they’re survival tools.

Didi lives in Santa Fe, where she hikes, mountain bikes, and glues hundreds of tiny pieces of tile into mosaic art in an effort to offset her pixelated life with IRL experience.

Summary

There is so much talk about AI taking over the world. But what if the real threat isn’t that AI becomes smarter, but that we become dumber? In this PechaKucha, marketing consultant and professional coach Didi Bethurum reframes the conversation through the lens of failure – and not the failure of machines, but the quiet, creeping failure of our own intellect.

With a mix of humor, personal storytelling, emerging data, and cultural critique, Didi explores how algorithmic life is eroding our presence, creativity, and conversation skills. From a guerrilla art project that spoofed Instagram dopamine hits to reflections on letter writing with her grandmother, she reveals how the analog struggles we used to endure taught us resilience, empathy, and self-awareness – all things at risk in an AI-accelerated world.

She’ll discuss Presence, Play, and Conversation – your new daily reps for mental fitness, and your invitation to take your mind back before you fully outsource it. Obvious actions? Perhaps, but dangerously easy to forget.
