RescueFest: A Benefit for Atalaya Search and Rescue
On call 24/7, Atalaya Search and Rescue (Atalaya SAR) is a local nonprofit led by volunteers who are committed to the search and rescue of lost or injured people in New Mexico’s backcountry. One of two SAR teams that is certified to execute mountain and adverse terrains rescues, Atalaya SAR provides an invaluable service to communities across New Mexico. Funding is needed to replenish old equipment and gear as well as offset training certifications fees.
Each year, Atalaya SAR hosts their fundraiser RescueFest with the support of Second Street Brewery. Looking to increase their organizational brand awareness and increase earned revenue from RescueFest, Atalaya SAR sought out CrSF’s design support in 2023. RescueFest 2023 received support from 40 community partners, raising more funds than previous years.
Starting with a brand identity refresh, we increase Atalaya SAR brand identity design memorability by simplifying the design into a badge, alluding to outdoor certification badges. We reinforce brand recognition by designing RescueFest identity based on Atalaya SAR badge design.
We reduce merchandise production cost by ensuring that our minimal bold design looks stellar with a single color imprint application. Additional environmental graphics inspired by candid photographs of rescue training increase brand awareness, as well as increase fundraising engagement. Atalaya SAR received higher revenue donation from Second Street Brewery, despite the inclement weather and same-day community festivals. Our strategic design support exponentially increased merchandise sale and gross revenue earned.

We improve the memorability of Atalaya SAR identity design through new typography pairing and simplified name, set in stylish badge design.
RESCUEFEST ID DESIGN VARIATIONS
Increasing overall brand recognition, our RescueFest revamped identity design takes inspiration from the main brand identity design. We apply orange safety for an added punch to the over look and feel.
Ensuring community awareness, CrSF created print and digital advertisement, echoing the look and feel of RescueFest 2023.
